Behind the Scenes: Camera Operator for Talk Shows

If you prefer working behind the scenes, becoming a camera operator for our Talk to the Mayor show could be the perfect fit for you. The show is typically held on the first Monday of every month at NCTV’s studio. Your responsibilities would include setting up the equipment, filming the show from different angles, and assisting with clean-up after the recording is complete. 

This opportunity requires a commitment of 2.5 hours once a month.

Government Shows: Capture Local Government in Action

For those interested in local government, volunteering as a camera operator or switcher for Town Council, Board of Education, Town Plan & Zoning, or Town Hall Renovations meetings could be rewarding. Crew call times vary depending on the meeting schedule, and you would be responsible for capturing important community discussions and decisions. 

This opportunity offers a flexible time commitment, ranging from 1.5 to 3 hours per meeting, with the possibility of covering multiple episodes each month. Remote work options are now available.

Editing: Transforming Raw Footage into Compelling Content

If you have a passion for post-production work, volunteering as an editor at NCTV could be a great fit for you. You would be tasked with taking raw footage from various shows and events and transforming it into a final broadcast-ready product. Our editing software includes Adobe Premiere, and Mac Final Cut, which provide you with the tools you need to bring stories to life on screen.

This role offers intermittent work, on an as needed basis.  

Graphics: Enhancing Visual Communication 

For those with a creative eye and a knack for graphic design, volunteering to create slides for NCTV’s programming could be a fun and fulfilling opportunity. These slides are typically used to promote upcoming events in town or share information from local non-profit organizations. 

This role offers intermittent work, as slides are added to the broadcast schedule as needed.

Special Events: Watching the Good Times Roll

One of the most exciting volunteer opportunities is covering special events such as parades and festivals. If you have a passion for videography or photography, this could be the perfect role for you. As a volunteer, you would be responsible for capturing footage of local happenings, either with your own cell phone or one of NCTV’s cameras (training provided). Whether you are an experienced videographer or a complete beginner, this is a fantastic way to get hands-on experience and create lasting memories for your community.

This opportunity offers a flexible time commitment, which varies based on the number of events you would like to be involved with and how much training you need to use a camera. 

Marketing and Outreach: Spreading the Word

If you have a flair for writing or a knack for social media, volunteering in marketing and outreach could be right up your alley. In this role, you would be responsible for spreading the word about NCTV’s programs and events through various channels, including social media, email campaigns, and community outreach efforts. This volunteer opportunity allows you to flex your creative muscles and think outside the box when it comes to promoting NCTV’s mission. Whether you are creating eye-catching graphics for social media or writing compelling blog posts, there is no shortage of ways to make an impact in this role.
